Ethics of practice? Who has made their own code of conduct relating to their chosen work? This is something I've been sitting with for a while.
As I am in two worlds..One clinical, where we have a code of conduct and ethical responsibility to the lager community and are held responsible for our actions. In my other world, I am a healer/reader and there are minimal regulation's for that. Morally I would like to think there is a code amongst the more esoteric modalities that we practise under. Its a doubled edged sword in the healing business.. as healers we have a responsibility to assist and help, but in no way to interfere or put our opinions on others. However I have seen it done time again albeit with the best intentions. I was reflecting on past readings that I myself have had personally. I was told when I was 27 that I would leave my husband and marry another. (still hasn't happened,I'm 44 now) The woman became very upset with me,when I told her nothing is set in concrete though. She argued that this was the path I was on and it was chosen for me,I was highly amused with the amount of energy she focused on me leaving my husband. Now if I had believed every word she said, would I have left him ? Who Knows? Another reading, I was told to stay away from witchcraft, I think I was in my 30's then and already a practising witch, I asked why..She replied "it's no good for you" Its evil! ahhhh I later found out She was practising progressive Christian, good for her! I have had some awesome readings too , don't get me wrong. I am just very aware of the power that readers can have over peoples lives. I'm sure you have all heard stories where people won't make a move without contacting their clairvoyant or astrologer. People tend to go for readings or healing when they need guidance..usually very overwhelmed and having something major going on around them. So of course you are vulnerable when this occurs. Working as a Nurse has honed my skills in this department I reckon. You may know something, but you just can't blurt it out! You may feel it and see it, but ethically you know where boundaries are. The mind is a powerful tool and if you enforce your own agenda onto someone, they may manifest it, as it becomes their reality and main focus. I think as Practitioners we have practice from a ethical place. We don't know it all and certainly nothing is destined..You can change your future. Rainbowalker PS This was a blog post I saved to my drafts, Middle of last Year..I have made my own code of conduct since :)
